Wyke Manor Estate
Wyke Manor Estate
The Wyke Manor Estate is nestled in the shadow of Bredon Hill in picturesque south Worcestershire. The Hudson family have been farming the countryside around Wick village for over 250 years. Charles Hudson inherited the estate in the 1970s. He has devoted his life to taking care of this beautiful pastoral landscape and the wildlife within it.
Certainly, the necessity to diversify has altered the make up of the Estate over the centuries. Therefore, we now consist of some 1000 acres of arable farmland. There are river meadows, woodlands, cricket bat willow plantations, and rental cottages. In addition, we have a hydroelectric scheme on the River Avon. And, of course, we are the British home of biodegradable confetti with The Real Flower Petal Confetti Company and The Confetti Flower Field. We also have plans to introduce a Wedding Barn.
The home of The Real Flower Petal Confetti Company
Charles came up with the idea of natural, biodegradable flower petal confetti in the 1990s. The Real Flower Petal Confetti Company has been the colourful heart of our farm ever since! We grow, harvest, dry, mix, pack and dispatch our confetti petals directly from the estate. It is a truly sustainable and eco-friendly product.
We love that we can add joy and magic to a wedding day! It is very rewarding to be able to give happy couples a confetti moment that they will cherish forever.
Meet Charles and hear the story of how he created The Real Flower Petal Confetti Company over twenty years ago, in this beautiful short film –
And the colourful Confetti Field
So the Wyke Manor Estate comes ablaze with colourful flowers each summer. Whilst our green fields of rapeseed, wheat and barley turn gold, our confetti flowers provide an amazing burst of colours!
Most importantly, the Confetti Flower Field is open to the public for just for a few days whilst the flowers are in full bloom. You can come and enjoy the flowers, huge expanse of colours, and wonderful rural views too. We are so happy to be able to share the flower field’s beauty with thousands of visitors. (Some from as far away as Thailand and New Zealand!) Above all, our open days create a fabulous buzz and festive atmosphere across the whole estate.
Unusual achievements
Glenn Robinson has been estate farm manager for over 30 years. Over the years he has planted some special designs in the flower field… For instance, in 2004 we were even given a Guinness World Record! We had the world’s Largest Carpet of Flowers with our Union Jack. Glenn re-created it in 2017 to celebrate our 20th anniversary of growing petal confetti. The enormous red, white and blue display was a huge hit with visitors.
In 2020 the Confetti Flower Field had to be replanted. This was due to extremely unusual weather, and coronavirus. However, its later bloom time meant that we could also grow a great area of smiling sunflowers. Certainly, these were very popular with visitors – and the bees and birds.
Charles always has plenty of ideas brewing… Despite being in his sixth decade of stewardship of the Wyke Manor Estate there are lots of future projects in development. So watch this space!

The pace of life slows down on the farm in the winter. Field are quiet, waiting for the warmth of spring. It gives us all chance to catch up and then plan for the next summer. But there are still plenty of treasures in midwinter, and natural beauty to enjoy. We have honoured this in past years with our special “Mistletoe Kisses” and “Holly Hugs” – decorations all sourced and handmade on the Wyke Manor Estate.
We also have our famous Confetti BAUBLES! You can create your own bespoke Confetti Bauble – a perfect gift for those enjoying their first Christmas as newlyweds. Or, indeed, for lovers of the colourful confetti fields.

Wyke Manor House
Wyke Manor remains the Hudson’s private family home. The house and gardens are not open to the public. The magnificent Tudor style house sits proudly on Main Street in Wick village. Consequently, it has provided a backdrop to many community events including our Royal Wedding Street Party in 2012.
However, the house itself is not as old as it looks! There has been a property on the site for 500 years. Moreover, a previous residence was owned by King Henry VIII’s last wife, Catherine Parr. But this façade is only around a hundred years old! That is to say, it was simply built at at time when Tudor styling was very fashionable.
