Let’s get dressed up!
We encourage you to wear your fanciest glad rags with your wellies or walking boots – this event is not one for the high heels! We’ll be awarding beautiful bouquets to the most fabulous ensembles.
However, extra layers or a blanket is a good idea, as it could get a bit chilly into the evening.
Dido & Aeneas
Creating the ambience will be 5 singers and 7 instrumentalists performing Henry Purcell’s only true opera, Dido & Aeneas. It is a work at the heart of the British musical heritage. In an emotionally charged and entertaining performance, the epic tragedy of a queen, a soldier, and an illicit love, will be told through a rich array of music. Performed with minimal staging, against the beautiful backdrop of the Worcestershire countryside and our colourful flowers. Armonico Consort offers a tender and entertaining rendition of this remarkable opera.
This is an OUTDOOR EVENT in a farm field – there is very little shade or cover in the confetti field, so please come prepared for the weather conditions. The event will go ahead if it rains.
Please note that our café, shop and flower stall will NOT be open at this event.
Please do not bring your dog. Barbeques and fires are not allowed.
We are afraid that tickets are now SOLD OUT. Please note that children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
Admission tickets will be checked in your vehicle – if you are planning to meet up with family and friends but you are travelling separately, each car must buy their own tickets. Thank you!
Please read all our T&Cs carefully before purchasing your tickets. We are unable to amend your booking if you make a mistake. Please check your selections carefully at each stage of the buying process.
All tickets are non-refundable and non-exchangeable. Your ticket is only valid for this event and cannot be used for any other session.
More about Armonico Consort
Armonico Consort began life in 2001, set up by Christopher Monks and a group of university colleagues with a shared passion for music from the Renaissance to Baroque. Their desire to find new and unusual ways to present concerts, and their programme of rarely heard gems, performed by the finest singers and period instrumentalists, was immediately loved by audiences.
“We take great care to craft programmes which bring as much little-known music to life as possible, and find new and imaginative ways to bring this music to audiences.” Says Christopher.
Early performances garnered 5 star reviews, from the national press and the BBC Music Magazine, and audiences remain inspired by their programme.
The positive influence of singing
An education programme was fundamental to Armonico Consort from the outset. It now encompasses three AC Academy after-school choirs and an in-school choir creation programme which trains teachers as choir leaders. To date, they have reached over 250,000 young people!
In 2016, in partnership with sponsors Phillips 66, Armonico Consort created a major new initiative – the ‘Voice Squad’ workplace choir. This has had an incredibly positive impact on the well-being of workforces around the country, demonstrating the beneficial effects of singing on the human mind.
Following a new partnership with the Alzheimer’s Society, the ‘Voice Squad’ now includes care homes and a ‘Memory Singers’ choir for those living with dementia.
Armonico recently launched ‘The Encore Appeal’, a large-scale fundraising campaign to develop and expand their community and education work with schoolchildren and young people with Special Educational Needs, and people living with dementia. Further information about the appeal can be found here.
